MKDS recently partnered with Lauren, owner and interior designer behind Maven Lane Interiors, to create new branding for her business. Formerly known as Resurrection and Sawdust, the new Maven Lane Interiors brand gives Lauren a visual identity that reflects her design style: feminine, welcoming, and timeless.
When developing a brand, we’re always looking for the details that can make an identity feel personal. Lauren’s work with wallpaper was one of the starting points for the visual direction. The delicate florals and intricate elements found throughout the wallpaper she installs gave us a natural starting point for creating a brand identity with its own sense of softness and detail.
Rather than simply pulling decorative elements from her work, we wanted to translate the qualities that make her design style feel special into a visual identity that could stand on its own.
A Brand with a Personal Story
One of our favorite details in the new identity is also one of the most personal—illustrations of Lauren’s son’s and daughter’s birth flowers.
It would have been easy to choose floral illustrations simply because they complemented the overall aesthetic. Giving them personal meaning made them something more: a small detail that connects the identity back to Lauren and her family.
Those are the kinds of details we love incorporating into a brand. They may be subtle, but they give an identity a story that belongs to the person behind the business.

A Fresh Identity for Maven Lane Interiors
With the launch of Maven Lane Interiors came an opportunity to create a visual identity that feels at home alongside Lauren’s interior design work. From the floral details and typography to the overall look and feel, the new brand was designed to carry the same warmth and attention to detail into every place Lauren’s business shows up.
Designing Brands for Interior Designers
Lauren’s project is one example of how we approach branding for creative businesses—looking beyond what simply looks good to find the details that make an identity feel connected to the person behind it.
The MKDS team has had the opportunity to work with several interior designers over the years. We’ve created brands and websites that feel as considered as the spaces they create. A few of our favorites have been Moda Designs and Jenni Egger Designs.
The best branding details are more than beautiful—they have a reason for being there.
