Christina of Christina Smith Travel is a travel advisor who was looking for a brand and website design to get her business off the ground. Christina has years of travel experience with her family and thrives on discovering new locations with unique experiences. It is her joy to help others take the vacation they have always dreamed of and put off for “some day.”
Christina worked with us to ensure she began her business with a professional look that showcases her commitment to delivering luxury experiences to her clients. We worked together to develop her brand identity and website to clearly portray all she has to offer as a travel advisor. Read on to hear about Christina’s experience with MK Design Studio.
Why did you choose to work with MK Design Studio for your project?
I knew I wanted to work with a ShowIt designer, and I had been far down the path of choosing a different designer when a friend mentioned MK Design Studio. After my initial introduction call with Mary, I knew that’s who I wanted to work with. Mary was friendly and knowledgeable, and I could tell she could really focus on her clients. I also liked that she was from the Midwest, as a fellow Midwesterner.
How did you feel before working together?
I was a bit overwhelmed by the whole process of building a visual brand and a website and wasn’t sure where to start. I also felt pressure to get it all done quickly, as I couldn’t launch my travel advising business until I had a logo and a website to send people to. Mary simplified the process by walking me through branding my business, finalizing a website map, writing copy, and choosing visuals.
What’s your favorite part of your new branding and website?
I love my visual brand identity, as it makes me feel everything I want clients to feel — uplifted and inspired. On my website, it’s hard to choose a favorite part. I like how it all came together – the copy, visuals, and layout.
What was your favorite part of the brand design process and working with MKDS?
My favorite part of the brand design process with MKDS was gathering my mood board. It was fun to pull images that had nothing to do with my business, but that delivered the feeling I was going for (like pictures of clothing and food, when my business is travel). But then Mary was able to use this mood board to create my brand identity.
What was your favorite part of the website design process and working with MKDS?
My favorite part of the website design process with MKDS was seeing the home page for the first time. After many weeks of finalizing the brand identity, and then writing copy/gathering images, it was amazing seeing it all come to life as a website homepage.
Did we accomplish your goals for the project?
Absolutely! I am incredibly proud of the brand identity and website that we built.
How do you think this updated look will impact your business?
I worked with MKDS on my brand identity and website before launching my business. That allowed me to launch my new business with a degree of professionalism that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. All elements of my brand/website came together to position me as an expert in customized, luxury family travel.
What advice would you offer someone who is on the fence about investing in custom website design?
My advice would be that if you want to appear professional, investing in a custom website design is imperative. As a consumer scrolling the web looking for a service provider, I quickly move off anyone that has a messy, complicated, unattractive website. I am drawn to those professionals whose websites are beautiful and easy to navigate, and I instantly trust them more.
How would you sum up your experience with MKDS? Would you recommend me to a friend?
My experience with MKDS was wonderful, and I would absolutely recommend Mary to a friend. She held my hand throughout the whole process, simplifying what could have been complicated, and pushed me when I needed to be pushed. I am so proud of what we built together and feel like I’m finishing this project considering Mary a friend.
